Patrol Fireman & Medic

Safety is a pretty big concern in Scouting, so it stands to reason that we should have jobs in the patrol dealing with safety. That's what these two Scouts do. They keep the patrol safe, and make sure the patrol knows the safe way to do things.

The Patrol Fireman

The Patrol Fireman makes sure everyone in the patrol follows proper fire safety procedures on any activity involving building fires. He keeps track of the patrol's Fire Plan on campouts and makes sure every member of the patrol earns their Fire'm'n Chit. Perhaps he's also in charge of teaching fire building skills so you can be sure that everyone learns the right way.

The Patrol Medic

The Patrol Medic is much more than the guy with the first aid kit. His job is to make sure every patrol activity is done safely. His job is not to do first aid on the members of the patrol, but to make sure no one has to! He makes sure every one in the patrol earns their Totin' Chip, practices good camp sanitation, and he watches the patrol for potential problems like hypothermia, frostbite, dehydration, sun stroke, and heat exhaustion.
